In the far future iconic items grant common citizens super-powers. The goggles that belong to the explosive hero Gunfire is seen granting the same to another citizen. Naive young men, thinking they can gain power, kidnap Tommy from his bar-seat at Noonan's. Tommy forces them to send him back. Then men then take Etrigan the Demon next; the hell-spawned creature kills them all.
